Some folks say that the personal website is dying. I don’t buy that.
But at the same time, it’s obvious that some of blogging’s core functions are being used more productively in other areas. While blogging remains an excellent tool for logging important events or articles, other services are taking over for the more frequent, and less time consuming, communications.
The reason I’m bringing this up is to let anyone who may float by my blog in the future that I’ve not suddenly gone mute or lost my typing fingers, I’m simply plugged in elsewhere. Why? Efficiency. Here’s where you can find me:
Contact, status, community: Facebook. I update my Facebook profile fairly frequently and it acts as a hub for my “stuff”. Chances are, if I’m doing something online that I want others to know about, it will show up on Facebook.
Moment by moment coverage: Twitter. I’m not a hardcore user, but I do update it nearly every day. It’s a great way to share web pages, random thoughts, or funny videos with everyone at once. Simply go to my Twitter page and click follow to find out what I’m doing. And I just might follow you too!
Pictures: Facebook. I’m not a big picture guy. Mainly because I don’t use our camera all that much. But it is much more simple to upload pictures to Facebook than to blog them. You can also send them to other Facebook users, add captions, and “tag” others who are in the picture which is a fabulous way to share photos. Facebook even allows video and audio as well, so it’s likely to be my primary tool for these mediums on a personal level.
So, is my blog dead? No. But don’t expect to see any of the aforementioned items here. In fact, all my blog posts show up on Facebook too.
I hope you decided to hook up to Facebook and Twitter so we can stay in contact! And if you want to get connected, nothing does it easier than Flock. Both Twitter and Facebook are completely integrated into Flock and are a breeze to set up. Flock also handles accounts for flickr, picasa, pownce, digg, piczo, youtube, blogger, wordpress, photobucket, del.icio.us, gmail, and yahoo! mail… among others. And it supports most Firefox extensions. So yeah… I highly recommend it!
My Dad showed me this Youtube video today. If you’ve seen “Rocky”, or even if you haven’t, this is a pretty hilarious video pitting Barack as Rocky against Hillary as Apollo. (it’s clean)
Sort of reminds me of Celebrity Deathmatch or something, but I found this a lot more entertaining . And no, I’m not a Democrat!
Seriously, it’s not like we are trying to compete with anyoneweknow when we picked up our new camera! Our old one is about as useful as my mind on Friday nights (fried) so it was time to get a new one!Anyways, I’ll let Megan post the pretty pictures, but I had fun too! Don’t worry, I’ll just post a few of them… but now that we can take over a thousand on every outing… maybe I’ll blog more These are from our recent trip (yesterday) to Yosemite: (use the “all sizes” button to view a larger version in flickr)
We couldn’t help taking a picture of this ridiculous billboard.
Doesn’t it bother you that some people invade your feed reader with a new post on their blog simply to tell you that they’re SORRY for not blogging more??
Well, you don’t have to worry ’cause I’m definitely not going to do that anymore!
This is the same recording as last time, I’m just reposting it so that it has a dedicated post and so I can put it in it’s own player on my server, instead of podbean.

Underrated
Sometimes I think that this life is overrated cause everything’s the same today it’s all been rearranged but the same at the core nothing really changed
I need something new to breathe I need something new to breathe
Well, if that’s the way it’s got to be then maybe the change should be in me if there’s a way to break monotony it’s walking away from what I used to be over and over again over and over again
I see that look in their eyes but what can I do I’m just a link in the chain I know that I should really care, it should break my heart but I can’t feel past my pain
Sometimes I think that this life is overrated but maybe it’s just me
I was actually able to get around to recording another one of my songs today. I’m not particularly proud of this performance, but if I don’t start moving a long, I’ll never get them all safely archived. So here it is (and with my new player! Now I can safely store my songs on my own server):

Love Me Either Way
-Garrett
I look into this mirror
Though dimly now it shines
Dark and musty but just a reflection
Or is it who I am inside?
You love me either way
It’s not about who I am
Your love is just the same
You are love either way
Come sun or come rain
Come grace or come strain
These shoes wear the path everyday
But if I stumble behind and everyone passes me by
When the tears on my face have dried
Would You listen if I told You that I tried?
Can I ever understand
The Love that You have
Cause the Love I have is blind
Covered by my sin and pride
Life goes on and there’s just not a whole lot to blog about right now.
My sister just turned 20 on the 30th and Aaron has beamed away to Israel. I got to see Max & Jenny’s house, which I think is quite nice, while we interviewed them for the forthcoming “special thing” that someone I know is putting together.
I really did get an iMac, in case you didn’t know, and yes, it is a good thing. Now I have 3 functioning computers running Windows XP (NOT Vista), Linux (Ubuntu), and Mac OS X (10.5). So no one can call my opinions uninformed anymore… unless they are running BSD or something.
